25 Days of Gays: On the Other Hand, Death (2008)
The third entry in director Ron Oliver's series of Donald Strachey mysteries was On the Other Hand, Death. Gay private detective Donald (played by Chad Allen) is pulled into a new mystery when his husband Tim (played by Sebastian Spence) introduces him to his college ex Andrew (played by Damon Runyan) who is attempting to help his lesbian mentors after they are the victims of seemingly homophobic attacks on their home. Donald sets out to find the culprit in their small town, putting him at odds with the community, as he begins to wonder if the attacks may have nothing to do with sexuality and everything to do with their property, which is highly sought after by a land developer. Tim's friendliness with Andrew piques Donald's curiosity until he discovers Andrew swimming naked and he flirts with Donald as well, kissing him. Damon showed rear nudity for the scene. Chad & Sebastian share several kisses. The film also includes a secret gay romance as Donald comes to the defense of Derek (played by Keegan MacIntosh), a gay teen whose sexuality is disputed by his close-minded father who targets the lesbians for supporting his coming out. Derek's secret boyfriend Joey (played by Kerry James) is a suspect in the initial vandalism. Donald stumbles upon the teens making out in a barn and he gives them advice on sticking together through their town's homophobia. The first two entries in the Donald Strachey mystery series (Third Man Out, Shock to the System) were previously featured for 25 Days of Gays.
