GayTV Recap: General Hospital (Episodes 14255-14256)

Episode 14255 of General Hospital aired this week and found husbands Brad (played by Parry Shen) and Lucas (played by Ryan Carnes) taking a break from their jobs at the hospital and from their status as new dads for a date night. They ran into Lucas' mom Bobbie at the hospital and she was very happy to hear that they were taking a night for themselves.

The couple headed out for dinner at the Metrocourt where they ran into their hospital colleague Kim and her baby daddy Drew, leading to some pleasantries, as they mentioned their date night, which Kim commended them on, knowing how hard it can be to pull yourself away when you have your only child at home. Brad & Lucas agreed that they would try to enjoy themselves and take their minds off Wiley, who they knew was in good hands with his godfather Michael.

Speaking of Wiley, over at Charlie's Pub, his grandfather Julian dealt with Willow, the woman who believes Wiley is the child she gave up for adoption, not knowing that her baby died and was switched with Michael's. She reminded Julian about her agreement that the child be kept away from him. They were soon joined by Michael and the baby, looking to pick up food. He warned Julian to keep his distance, but happily greeted Willow, hoping she would keep him and Wiley company while he waited for his order, making Julian uncomfortable.

Back at the Metrocourt, Brad and Lucas both attempted to put on happy faces, while discussing wine, despite both thinking about Wiley. Lucas panicked, wondering if he might have missed some direction for Michael, but Brad tried to reassure him, until both realized their date night wasn't going to last long, as they hated being away from their son.

Brad decided to call Michael to let him know they were giving up on their night out. Michael informed Brad that he was at the pub with Wiley waiting for food. Knowing it would upset Lucas to know that Wiley was near Julian, he covered with Lucas, telling him he would go pick up Wiley and let Lucas check-in on his cousin Lulu's condition at the hospital. They would meet up there to head home. Lucas agreed, but warned Brad not to take too long.

Brad arrived at the pub, finding Wiley & Michael with Willow. He remembered her from their previous meeting, leading him to ask some questions about the right time for play groups for Wiley, knowing Willow is a teacher. Julian grew more uncomfortable and promptly interrupted. Meanwhile, Lucas arrived back at the hospital, running into his mother. He told her about his date night being a bust due to missing Wiley. She made him promise to keep trying, reminding him that a happy marriage makes a happy child. Lucas agreed.

Back at the pub, Julian pulled Brad away from Wiley and the others, revealing to him that Willow is the woman behind his original adoption. This took Brad by surprise, as he realized that Willow believes she's Wiley's birth mother.

Episode 14256 picked things up with Brad & Julian arriving at the hospital with Wiley. Julian tried to calm Brad as he panicked over knowing Willow's identity. He wondered what might happen if she sought a relationship with Wiley, given the open adoption. It could lead to the truth of Wiley's parentage being exposed. Elsewhere in the hospital, Lucas dealt with his aunt Ava looking for an update on Lulu, which he couldn't give her because she's not family. He warned her that demanding answers about the serial killer from Lulu in her condition would be the worse thing for her recovery.

Brad told Julian that keeping distance between Wiley and Willow might not be so easy if she reveals herself. If Wiley were to get sick, and Willow attempted to help, it could expose everything, thanks to a simple blood test. Julian claimed the odds of that happening were astronomical, just as Lucas arrived, upset again to find his father around Wiley. Julian claimed it to be another coincidence, as he was there looking for his sister Ava. Brad agreed, saying he was there to pick-up Lucas, just like they agreed. Fed up with accusations, Julian told Lucas that he needed to at least trust his husband, who hasn't done anything wrong.

Brad & Lucas were heading out when they ran into Elizabeth, who was trying to read up on dealing with a gay child. After seeing one of her books, it prompted their curiosity and Elizabeth told them about her 8-year-old son Aiden (Lucas' second-cousin) being teased at school about it. She had no clue how to handle it, or whether she should even broach the topic, just because bullies are tormenting him about something that may not be true.

The guys sat with her, telling her about their experiences discovering their sexuality. Brad revealed that he knew he was gay when he was Aiden's age, as he was quickly able to describe stereotypes that the other kids might have been using to form their opinion about Aiden. Elizabeth agreed that they applied to Aiden's personality. Lucas told her that everyone's different. He didn't realize his attraction to guys until he was a teenager, and he struggled to suppress it until he couldn't anymore.

Elizabeth sought their advice on what to do. They told her that the most important thing was for her to be open and supportive and to make sure Aiden felt comfortable and safe at home, but not to push the issue. They volunteered to come over for dinner to help Elizabeth show him that she was supportive of her gay friends without placing a microscope on Aiden. She thanked them. Lucas embraced her, but he & Brad also told her that things were likely going to get a lot rougher before they would get easier.
