GayTV Recap: Days of Our Lives (Episodes 54x88-54x92)
Will arrived at his grandmother Marlena's office, looking to see if she had heard from her husband John on his search for Leo's mother Diana. Marlena gave him the unfortunate news that John felt he needed more to go on to find her. She probed Will for more information about Diana based on Sonny's conversations with Leo, but he couldn't think of anything else. She urged him not to give up hope on his and Sonny's love, leading Will to thank her for always reminding him of that.
Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Leo encouraged Sonny to continue undressing, making him instantly uncomfortable. Leo flirted with him, but Sonny quickly dismissed any notion that he would ever sleep with Leo now. He urged him to find sex somewhere else, leading Leo to reveal that he tried that with Sonny's cousin Xander but it didn't work. He told Sonny about his plot to reveal his leverage on Sonny to get Xander in bed, disgusting Sonny even more. Leo then turned to blackmail, urging Sonny to give him what he wanted in the bedroom, or risk him exposing the photos of Sonny & Will getting rid of his body.
Sonny warned Leo that if he revealed those photos he would sacrificing his new cushy lifestyle in the mansion, which he knew Leo wasn't ready to give up. Leo left without making a decision on his next move, unsettling Sonny. Later, Sonny spoke to Will on the phone, learning that John hadn't found Diana, which left him feeling a bit hopeless. Will urged him to hang in there. He hung up, just as Marlena arrived to find him, telling him that she heard back from John and that he had actually found Leo's mother. Back at the mansion, Leo answered the front door, shocked by an unexpected visitor.
Episode 54x89 picked up right where things left off, with Will calling Sonny back and revealing that John had located Leo's mother Diana. He was waiting with his grandmother for John to fill them in on the details, which he promised to get back to Sonny. Unbeknownst to either of them, Leo was downstairs being reunited with his mother while they discussed her on the phone.
Leo pulled his mother away from the mansion's front door, wondering what she was doing in Salem. Diana revealed to him that she was being followed and when she confronted the man, he started asking her questions about her son, Matthew, eventually telling her that he was living in Salem under the name Leo Stark. At the Brady Pub, John arrived and Will questioned him about finding Diana, leading John to reveal that he didn't actually speak to the woman himself, leaving him confused.
Diana made herself comfortable and grabbed a drink, as Leo tried his best to get her to leave before someone else in the mansion saw her. Sonny then arrived, finding the two talking in the living room. He made nice, wondering who Leo's female friend was. Back at the pub, John explained to Will that one of his associates made contact with Diana and told her about Leo living in Salem, which had John thinking that she might be headed to town.
Leo tried to cover with Sonny, claiming the woman was his personal shopper, but Diana quickly mentioned his real name, Matthew, which caused Sonny to guess that she was Leo's mother. He warmly greeted her, as Leo tried again for her hasty exit. Sonny put on a smile, chiding Leo for his bad manners. He invited Diana to make herself at home, as he was dying to know all about Leo's past, annoying Leo.
Sonny brought Diana a fresh drink and began asking questions about Leo's past and whether he got into much trouble, as Leo seethed in the background. He tried to put a stop to Sonny's happy act, revealing that he knew Sonny orchestrated this after his mother mentioned a man following her looking for dirt on him. Sonny denied his accusation, as his mother sat intrigued by Leo's demeanor with his husband.
Sonny excused himself after getting a text from Will. This led Leo to claim it was time for his mother to leave before Sonny came back. He grabbed her by the arm, leading her to slap him. She reminded him who the parent was and claimed that he needed to watch his tone with her, because she could easily blow his lucrative situation up by telling Sonny what he wants to hear. In the foyer, Will told Sonny over the phone about John's suspicion that Diana might be on her way to Salem. Sonny revealed to Will that she was there already, and that he planned to get her to open up about Leo's secrets in order to get him out of their lives for good.
Diana urged her son to treat her with some respect, getting further under Leo's skin as Sonny returned, wondering if he missed anything. Diana told him that she was tired from her travels and Sonny invited her to stay in the mansion, but she declined, so he set her up with accommodations at the Salem Inn, where he told her she was free to put all charges in his name, leaving her happy and Leo furious.
Episode 54x91 picked up the story with Will arriving at the Salem Inn to see Diana, surprising her with his arrival on her doorstep. He introduced himself, revealing that Sonny is his ex-husband, which intrigued Diana, as she wondered what he wanted to see her about. Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Sonny found Leo day-drinking in the living room. Leo again accused Sonny of setting this up, after all his probing questions about his mother. When Sonny denied it again, Leo stormed off after a warning that this wasn't going to help Sonny get rid of him.
Sonny was joined by his mother Adrienne, telling her about the arrival of Leo's mother Diana. She wondered about the woman and Sonny told her that he didn't know much, yet, but that she seemed pretty normal. Over at the Salem Inn, Diana invited Will into her room, as he explained to her that Sonny was in love with him, but that Leo had trapped him in a loveless marriage, which all started with his sexual harassment lawsuit, which Diana revealed she read about.
Despite Diana's arrival and the potential of taking Leo down, Adrienne noticed that Sonny was still upset about something. She forced him to tell her and he revealed Leo's latest ultimatum that if Sonny didn't start sleeping with him, he might take the incriminating photos of Sonny & Will to the police. This left Adrienne furious. Over at the Salem Inn, Diana questioned Will about how Leo might be blackmailing Sonny if the sexual harassment was a false claim. He then revealed to her how he & Sonny believed they accidentally killed Leo and tried to cover it up, only for Leo to return with pictures, forcing Sonny to marry him.
Diana revealed to Will that nothing he told her really surprised him when it came to her son. She told Will about how Leo grew up with a privileged life, which he didn't respect. He threatened to spend away all of his family's money, until Diana cut him off. Back at the mansion, Adrienne, armed with a pair of scissors, confronted Leo over his threats to Sonny.
Will figured he was getting somewhere and asked Diana if she could help him and Sonny to end Leo's blackmail scheme. Diana surprised him by refusing. She told him she was sympathetic to his situation with Sonny, but that she could not betray her son, even if their relationship was strained. Will told her she was doing the wrong thing by letting Leo continue to do bad things to other people if she could stop it, but Diana asked him to leave. Back at the mansion, Adrienne threatened to cut Leo where it hurts if he didn't drop his sexual threats towards Sonny. Upstairs, Sonny got a call from Will, telling him that Diana didn't want to help, but it was obvious that she knew something that could help them and Will wasn't giving up.
Episode 54x92 found Leo preying on another of Sonny's family members when he came upon Sonny's cousin Brady (played by Eric Martsolf) moving back into the Kiriakis mansion. He introduced himself, but Brady was well-aware of who he was and tried to blow him off, which didn't sit well with Leo.
Leo tried flirting with Brady, playing nice and trying to soften his negative history with Sonny, but Brady refused to play along. Leo didn't let up on his flirting, despite Brady telling him he's straight. This led Leo to accuse him of being gay, forcing him into a kiss, just in time for the arrival of Brady's father, John. Brady pushed Leo away in anger, which didn't seem to faze Leo at all.
The hard-up Leo turned his attention to John, complimenting him as well, which further annoyed Brady. However, after John revealed some details related to Leo's relationship with his mother, Leo realized who John was and how he had been responsible for his mother coming to Salem. He insulted John and exited. Though he later returned, attempting to flirt with Brady once more, only to be rebuffed and warned to keep his distance. What John & Leo didn't realize yet is that Diana has some history with John & Marlena, adding to her mystery.
