GayTV Recap: General Hospital (Episodes 14167-14212)

There's been lots of baby drama in recent months for General Hospital's resident gays, Brad and Lucas. Episode 14167 found doctor Lucas (played by Ryan Carnes) at the hospital with his adopted infant son, Wiley, after his first check-up. He ran into his sister Carly and his nephew Michael. When he got called away to see a patient, Carly & Michael volunteered to watch Wiley. Carly wondered if being around the baby might bring up sad feelings for Michael given the loss of his own child, not realizing that Wiley is the baby that Michael believes he lost.

Michael revealed he felt a connection to Wiley, believing that his baby's death might be enhancing that. Lucas returned and Michael passed off the child before departing. Lucas wondered how Michael was holding up being around the baby and Carly assured him he was going to be fine. They were interrupted by Wiley's pediatrician, who revealed that her examination found something troubling, making them instantly concerned.

Episode 14168 began with Lucas nervously waiting for his husband Brad's arrival. Carly tried to keep him calm, but things only worsened when a panicked Brad (played by Parry Shen) made it up from the lab, wondering what was wrong with Wiley. Chief of Staff and cardiac specialist Monica showed up, revealing she had been asked to consult on Wiley's case. They went to her office, where she revealed that Wiley might have a heart condition, which caused Brad to freak out even more, wondering if he might be critically ill.

Lucas and Monica took Wiley for some tests. Carly took the opportunity to try to calm Brad down, telling him how hard being a parent is and how he can't control everything or have all the answers. She told him that he could fall apart when he's alone and be strong in front of everyone else. It's a tactic that has always pulled her through crisis, so that she could be strong for those around her. Brad thanked her for the advice. Later, Monica revealed to them all the details of Wiley's heart defect and how it will likely be harmless and correct on its own.

Lucas & Brad were relieved, but when Carly revealed that it was the same heart defect that plagued Michael as a baby, Brad grew uncomfortable, knowing the child is really Michael's son. Monica confirmed it was true and that Michael's birth father A.J. also had it, though Wiley's case won't require surgery like theirs did. Lucas wondered what other ailments Wiley might have, leading Brad to try to calm his desire to contact the birth mother by volunteering to do the genetic testing himself.

Things picked up again in Episode 14200, where Brad remained uncomfortable with Michael bonding with Wiley, as they had a visit at the pub. Brad excused himself to head to work. Lucas confided in Michael about how unsettled Brad has been lately when it comes to Wiley. Michael figured being a new parent was pretty scary.

Outside, Brad ran into Lucas' father Julian, the only one Brad told about the baby switch. He shared his panic and told him that he wasn't sure how much longer he could keep up his ruse around Lucas and Michael. Julian urged him to calm down and just be happy with his family. Julian entered the pub and greeted Lucas, only to get a cold welcome as Lucas continued to freeze Julian out of Wiley's life as part of the agreement with Wiley's birth mother.

At the hospital, Brad was summoned by Silas to run some tests on a patient. He was stunned to find his old friend Britt was there. Back at the pub, Lucas reminded Julian that he needed to keep his distance. Julian promised he would, but offered Lucas some advice to not forget to show Brad some support through this busy time in their lives. Lucas was caught off-guard by Julian's concern for his husband.

Brad and Britt shared a happy reunion, as she revealed to him that she was released from the mental institution. Silas revealed that they needed Brad's help to run some tests on Britt, but he was warned by special agent Anna that Brad needed to keep Britt's medical tests private to protect some mysterious operation Anna was spearheading that Britt was a crucial part of. At first Brad refused to do anything nefarious, having turned over a new leaf as a family man, surprising Britt. But in the end, he agreed to help for Britt's sake.

Back at the pub, Lucas was happy to hear his father truly changing his villainous ways. He offered to let Julian spend more time with him, even if he had to keep his distance from Wiley. Julian was happy for that. Back at the hospital, bad girl Britt wanted details from Brad on his new family life, ultimately convincing Brad to confide in her. He then spilled the truth about Wiley and the baby swap.

Episode 14212 saw the residents of Port Charles celebrating Thanksgiving. Lucas, Brad & Wiley arrived at the Corinthos house for the holiday and Brad was a bit uncomfortable to see Michael there, looking to hold Wiley. He put on a brave face as attention went Wiley's way.

Brad & Lucas took a call from Julian, wishing them a Happy Thanksgiving, which didn't seem to sit well with Lucas' mother Bobbie. He went off to talk to her, leaving Brad to talk to Julian alone. He wondered how Brad was holding up. Brad told Julian that he was coming to terms with what he did and realizing that he had to make peace with his decision to keep quiet about Wiley, as he eyed Michael. Lucas' brother-in-law Sonny made a toast for the holiday, thanking his family for coming together despite recent tragedies. Wiley's happiness was infectious and everyone toasted to happy times ahead.
