Happy Birthday, Jermelle Simon!

Jermelle Simon celebrates his 35th birthday today, making him the man of the moment. The actor and fitness model is best known for his role on the Netflix family comedy The Upshaws, where he plays Bernard (junior), the oldest child of the Upshaw family. In honor of his big day, the blog looks back at his big shirtless scene from the series, which came as Bernard took in a shirtless workout when he crossed paths with his estranged love interest Hector (played by Dewayne Perkins) at the gym. Bernard was still stinging from their break-up, stemming from his internalized homophobia which led to him asking Hector to tone down his flamboyance in front of his daughter. Bernard apologized for his own behavior and hoped Hector would give him another chance. Hector invited him to come see him at his bar job so they could talk more. Bernard later arrived, shocked to see that Hector was performing on stage in drag. Hector was disappointed when he saw Bernard walk away, only for him to return with singles to happily throw to Hector and his fellow queens on stage. Season 5 of the sitcom premieres this week, with the reunited couple.
