The penultimate episode of the first season of the Showtime series American Rust found Isaac (played by David Alvarez) taken in by security officer Nate (played by Tom Pecinka) after being the victim of a homophobic assault in the previous episode. Isaac appeared to find some peace and happiness with the open and caring Nate, leading to some romance. Their shirts came off for a love scene and the bed scene that followed. Things were short-lived, however, when Isaac learned of his friend Billy's (played by Alex Neustaedter) fate for the crime Isaac committed. He revealed the whole story to Nate, who told Isaac that he had a big decision to make. Nate woke up shirtless the next morning to find Isaac gone.
