25 Days of Gays: Beautiful Thing (1996)

The UK classic Beautiful Thing, based on the play of the same name, deals with themes around friendship, social class, and coming out. It centers on classmates Jamie (played by Glen Berry) and Ste (played by Scott Neal). While Jamie deals with life with his single mother and his growing feelings of homosexuality, Ste lives next door with his abusive father and brother, leaving him with scars and feelings of self-doubt. He retreats to Jamie's home on several occasions, thanks to Jamie's outspoken and supportive mother Sandra. The boys grow closer, leading to romance, while Sandra works to find an escape for her family from their low-class housing. Scott showed rear nudity in a few scenes, while Glen was shirtless.
