GayTV Recap: General Hospital (Episodes 14382-14422)
The topic of Shiloh remained on people's minds as the party continued. Lucas & Brad talked with their lawyer Alexis, who assured him that, despite Shiloh being out on bail, nothing changed in terms of his legal claim on Wiley. He could not pursue any court action until his criminal charges were decided. The husbands were happy to hear that, just as Willow arrived in good spirits alongside Julian (played by William deVry). His presence didn't sit well with Lucas' sister or his adopted mother, Bobbie, but he quickly spoke up, informing them that he & Brad invited Julian and were welcoming him into Wiley's life.
With spirits settled, the festivities turned to toasts in Wiley's honor. As several of the guests shared their love for Wiley and their support for Lucas and Brad's family, the mood turned tense when Shiloh (played by Coby Ryan McLaughlin) showed up at the Metrocourt, shocking everyone in attendance. He announced that he wouldn't miss his son's big day, especially when he had a very important gift to share.
Shiloh was warned to leave by Carly and Willow, as Lucas tried to keep his cool, saying they wanted nothing from him. Shiloh still refused to go, telling them about his gift for his son. He presented his medical records, knowing Lucas & Brad were interested in getting their hands on them for Wiley's medical history. Brad quickly grabbed the records, before suggesting that Shiloh now leave. Brad looked to ensure that no one else got their hands on the paperwork, given his own secret about Wiley's origins.
When Shiloh announced that it wouldn't be long before he was reunited with his son, and that there would be no stopping him, Lucas' nephew (and Wiley's actual birth father) Michael had enough. He attacked Shiloh and tossed him out as everyone watched. Later, Brad was alone with Julian as they talked about those medical records and how Lucas would know Wiley was not actually Shiloh's child if he ever got his hands on them. Brad was going to ensure that never happened.
Brad joined Lucas who was telling Willow that Julian wasn't the only one they wanted to be part of Wiley's life. They offered her the same, hoping that she might agree given her support for their adoption and her sacrifices to protect Wiley from Shiloh. Willow told them that she would be honored to be part of Wiley's life, even though he clearly had a huge circle of support from their family. Brad later overheard Carly telling Bobbie about Michael's recent visit to the prison to see his ex, Nelle (Wiley's actual birth mother). He heard Carly say that Michael planned to have no more contact with Nelle. Lucas grabbed Brad, urging him to come join Wiley as he opened his birthday presents. Brad happily agreed to join in the fun.
Episode 14387 began with Brad arriving at the hospital with Wiley in tow, just in time to cross paths with Lucas. The couple talked about their lack of sleep with Lucas getting off a night shift at the hospital and Brad taking care of Wiley alone the previous night. They agreed to grab coffee before getting Wiley to his swimming lesson so they could avoid falling asleep while there. They were then surprised by Julian's arrival. Lucas passed Wiley off to his father, as Julian revealed he was actually looking for Lucas.
Brad & Lucas wondered what was up with Julian, but he revealed it was all good news. He had a surprise he had been working on and he wanted to run it by Lucas before anyone else. He urged Brad not to take offense, but Brad was fine letting the father and son head off to check something out without him. He agreed to get Wiley to his swimming lesson alone. He figured spending some alone time with his father would be good for Lucas.
Brad prepared to leave with Wiley only to get cut off by Dr. Liesl Obrecht. She remained another loose end for Brad, given that she knew the truth about Wiley's parentage as well, having delivered Nelle's baby while both women were on the run. She accused Brad of being the one who tossed her off the Haunted Star ship as a way of keeping her quiet, catching Brad off-guard.
Brad tried to dismiss Obrecht, reminding her of how many enemies she has in Port Charles but she refused to let him leave until Brad finally admitted that it was true. He was the one who pushed a drunken Obrecht off the ship during the wedding reception they were attending. Obrecht was a bit surprised that Brad would ever have the courage to actually attempt murder, despite his past as her daughter Britt's partner-in-crime.
Brad told her that his attempt to kill her made them even, which confused Obrecht until Brad reminded her that she had previously pushed him off a ledge years before. She claimed that was ancient history and they both have changed since then. Brad said that they could forget all about this, if Obrecht kept quiet about Wiley and stayed away. Obrecht then told him that she has recently been having so many feelings, like her conscience has been getting the best of her. She just wasn't so sure that keeping Wiley away from his true family was a good idea.
Brad brought up the Corinthos family and how dangerous life can be with them. He said Obrecht had to understand. When she remained unbending, Brad brought up Britt again, telling her mother that Britt was aware of Wiley's true parentage as well. Would Obrecht be willing to sacrifice her daughter by letting the truth come out? Aiding and abetting Brad would be a violation of Britt's parole, sending her back to prison. Obrecht was surprised that Brad would sellout his only true friend to keep his secret. Brad vowed that he would do anything to keep his son. He asked for her word that she would keep the secret, for Britt. Obrecht agreed with a handshake, offering Brad luck, knowing he would need it. Their handshake was witnessed by a curious Carly, who was left feeling uneasy by the interaction she spied.
Episode 14391 found Lucas back on duty in the hospital emergency room, as Shiloh's villainous antics continued to affect more lives. After his twisted experiments in memory transfer led to more abductions and violence, things moved to the hospital where Lucas treated his latest victim, Franco. He informed Franco's family, including Franco's wife and Lucas' friend Elizabeth, about his condition. He then ran into Willow's boyfriend, detective Chase (played by Josh Swickard), who looked for Lucas' signoff to remove the doctor who helped Shiloh. Lucas condemned the doctor's actions and happily signed the papers for him to be removed from the hospital.
Nurse Epiphany passed along the file for his next patient in the ER and Lucas headed off, only to discover that it was Shiloh, battered and bloody from the fight that led to his arrest in connection with Franco's abduction. While Lucas was annoyed, he didn't refuse to care for Shiloh's wounds. While Shiloh looked to talk about Wiley, Lucas refused to take the bait, announcing that medically Shiloh was going to be fine, which meant he would be healthy to face his new criminal charges.
Willow arrived at the hospital, looking for Chase. Before Lucas could help her, they saw Shiloh being taken out by police. When he brought up Wiley again, Lucas mentioned that he was just fine with his parents who love him. Shiloh said he's got a lot of parents who love him. Willow assured Shiloh that he would never be Wiley's father. The police took him away, as Lucas pulled an angry Willow away. He revealed to her that Shiloh had broken his parole which meant that he was headed back to prison, and out of their lives.
Episode 14394 saw Lucas arriving at Charlie's Pub only to find a sign outside showing the establishment was for sale. He walked inside to meet Julian, who was sitting with his girlfriend, and Lucas' fellow doctor, Kim. They revealed to him that Julian was indeed selling the pub. He then revealed that he and Kim were planning to leave Port Charles together.
Lucas was surprised at his father's decision. He got pulled away by a call and Kim revealed to Lucas that the move was her idea. She told him about her struggles to move past the death of her teenage son Oscar. She needed to get away from all of the reminders of him. Lucas sympathized with her and she shared her hope that he never had to feel the despair as a parent that she felt. They discussed how good of a man Julian has become, thanks to his relationship with Kim. She then told Lucas that she was willing to break things off with Julian if Lucas needed his father to stay in Port Charles. Lucas revealed he wouldn't interfere with his father's happiness.
Julian returned, as Kim revealed she had to get to work. She departed and Lucas asked his father if his decision to leave Port Charles for New York had anything to do with how much Lucas had pushed him away in the past. Julian assured him that he was feeling more secure than ever in their relationship and their family. He wouldn't leave if it were any different. The two embraced, as Lucas remarked that he was glad Brad didn't come with him, knowing how upset he would be to know Julian was leaving. Lucas looked to make sure his father was truly secure in his decision, given Kim's revelation that she would leave Port Charles, with or without him.
Brad arrived at the start of Episode 14395. He was openly distraught to hear that Julian planned to leave Port Charles. He tried to cover his emotions over his reasoning, not wanting Lucas to realize how much Julian had helped him cover up Wiley's parentage. He told them that Wiley would miss his grandfather, especially since they just decided to let Julian be a part of his life.
Lucas & Julian tried to assure Brad that Wiley was going to be just fine. Lucas even suggested they plan some trips to New York to visit Julian, so they can have some adventures in the city with Wiley. Lucas departed so that he could get to work, kissing Brad goodbye and telling him that it was all going to be fine.
After Lucas departed, Brad made it clear to Julian that it wasn't going to be fine for him. He panicked as he wondered what would happen if the truth about Wiley came out without Julian around to help him. He had no one else he could confide in about his secret. Julian thought that was actually a good thing, telling Brad that without him in town, Brad could finally put all of this behind him and move on, especially since Julian was the only one that knew the truth. Brad kept mum about the fact that Obrecht knew as well. He focused on Shiloh's medical records, knowing that if anyone cross-referenced them with Wiley's, they would know Shiloh wasn't his father. Brad contemplating altering the records, despite Julian's warnings to him to do nothing since no one was going to be looking at them.
Brad later arrived at the hospital, not taking Julian's advice. He found an unattended computer terminal and accessed the hospital records, pulling up Wiley's medical records. He then checked out Michael's records, which detailed the same heart condition that Wiley suffered from. Brad then accessed Shiloh's records, looking to copy some of Michael's information into Shiloh's file. Before he could do so, he was interrupted by the arrival of his husband, wondering what he was up to.
Brad quickly closed Michael's record, as Lucas walked over, glancing at the terminal and seeing Shiloh's medical record on the computer screen. Lucas surprised Brad by smiling, playfully telling him that he was upset that Brad was going through Shiloh's records without him. Lucas began looking through them and was troubled when he didn't see any mention of the hereditary heart condition Wiley has. Brad covered, by suggesting they take a better look when their minds are clear. Lucas said that wasn't the problem. The inherited heart condition wasn't in Willow's records, so it had to come from Shiloh.
Brad grew more nervous, until Lucas suggested that Shiloh may not have been fully truthful with his doctors. Brad agreed, knowing how untruthful Shiloh can be. Lucas turned his attention back to family, telling Brad he was going to meet him at home after he picked up Wiley from his mother. Brad expressed excitement about family dinner. They shared a kiss before Lucas departed, leaving Brad feeling a bit relieved that he hadn't been caught tampering with the records.
Episode 14409 saw Brad's issues with Dr. Obrecht coming back into the forefront, as Lucas dined with his sister Carly and her husband Sonny. When they were left alone with Wiley, Carly told Lucas about the odd interaction she saw between Brad & Obrecht at the hospital. She didn't know what they were talking about, but seeing them shake hands left her feeling very worried, given Obrecht's history. Lucas was sure it was probably nothing.
He later arrived at the hospital, finding Brad. Despite his dismissal of it with Carly, Lucas was troubled and wondered what Brad and Obrecht were talking about. Brad was caught off-guard, but he covered, saying that Obrecht was just being a nuisance, asking about Britt and whether Brad had been in touch with her recently. Lucas told him that he didn't feel comfortable with Wiley being around her and Brad wholeheartedly agreed, wanting to keep his own distance from Obrecht as much as possible.
The husbands boarded the elevator. Lucas & Wiley dropped Brad off at his floor on their way to the parking deck. As if on cue, Obrecht appeared, hopping aboard the elevator to Brad's dismay. Lucas felt instantly uncomfortable, pulling Wiley away from the woman as she tried to make small talk. Brad grew even more uncomfortable when Michael appeared, also hopping inside. Brad grew terrified as Obrecht glanced at Michael and then Lucas & Wiley, before smiling back at him, as the door closed and she mentioned that it was such a cozy coincidence they were all there.
Episode 14410 found Brad at the hospital with Wiley, waiting for Lucas's mother Bobbie to pick the boy up. He crossed paths with Michael & Willow, who were both eager to get some time with Wiley. Brad asked Michael about what happened with Obrecht in the elevator and Michael said she just talked about how happy Brad & Lucas seemed with Wiley. Brad grew more annoyed, despite Michael telling him that she seemed to actually be genuine in remarking that Brad & Lucas appeared to be good fathers. Brad got Michael & Willow to agree to watch Wiley until Bobbie arrived to pick up him. He whispered to Wiley that he was his whole world before rushing off.
Brad arrived at Charlie's Pub only to find Michael's father Sonny on his way out. He happily talked about how big Wiley was getting. Brad agreed. Julian wondered why Brad looked so spooked. Brad revealed to him that Obrecht knew the truth about Wiley's birth parents and he needed Julian's help to keep her quiet. Julian was confused as to how Obrecht could know about the homeless woman that gave her baby to Brad. He then told Julian the truth, that Obrecht delivered Wiley. Julian then recalled Obrecht escaping prison the night Wiley would have been born. He then put the pieces together. He wondered if Brad could have possibly stolen Sonny Corinthos' grandchild.
Episode 14411 picked up right where things left off, with Julian going ballistic at the thought that he might have helped conceal the grandchild of his greatest enemy. He demanded to know if it was true. Brad confessed that Wiley was the son of Michael and Nelle. Julian demanded he tell him the whole story, finally. Brad explained to him what happened the night that Willow & Shiloh's child that he had adopted died with him at home. He told him how distraught he was when he headed to the hospital, running into Nelle along the way.
Brad explained to him that taking Wiley was Nelle's idea. She wanted to keep the child away from the Corinthos family. Julian told Brad that they were both screwed. Brad told him that was why they needed to get rid of Obrecht. If she revealed the truth Sonny would have them killed, and even if he didn't, Brad could be sent to prison. Lucas would lose him and Wiley. He wondered if that was the outcome that Julian wanted for his son.
Brad & Lucas paid another visit to the pub in Episode 14414. Julian was happy to see them and Wiley. Lucas revealed that they wanted to give him as much time with Wiley as they could before he left town. When Lucas spotted his cousin Lulu, he took Wiley over to say hello. This left Julian & Brad alone. Julian suspected that Wiley wasn't the real reason Brad wanted to see him. Brad wondered if Julian had an answer for his request to get rid of Obrecht. Julian didn't think that was the right thing to do, but Brad continued to put pressure on him, knowing what the truth coming out would mean for all of them.
Lucas & Wiley returned, wondering what they were talking about. Brad covered, saying that Julian was telling him about his girlfriend Kim's struggles with her son's death. Brad told Lucas he was more empathetic to her now that he's spent so much time with their son. This got Lucas thinking the same thing. Brad watched Julian's reaction as Lucas talked about how destroyed he would be if he ever lost Wiley. Brad secretly hoped this would tug at Julian's heartstrings to get him to agree to help Brad.
With Julian listening, Brad told Lucas that he had nothing to worry about because nothing was ever going to happen to Wiley. Lucas told him that he couldn't guarantee that. Brad told him that he was sure their family would remain intact and they would never lose their son, because Brad would never let that happen, no matter what. He gave Lucas a kiss to seal his promise. Lucas was left a bit surprised at Brad's stern vow.
The drama with Shiloh ramped up again in Episode 144220 when the villain managed to escape police custody while on trial. Lucas was on-duty in the emergency room once again. He treated the corrections officer who was attacked during Shiloh's assisted escape. Detective Chase arrived, looking to get an update on the officer's condition. Lucas gave him that update, as the officer woke up. He revealed to them that they weren't just looking for Shiloh, but also his partner who helped Shiloh escape. Lucas was not happy to hear of Shiloh being on the loose again.
Lucas was later pulled away by a family emergency when he learned that his mother Bobbie had been admitted to the hospital. He found her with family friend Jason (played by Steve Burton), who had found Bobbie on the side of the road after she had been carjacked by Shiloh. Lucas grew terrified, as he wondered where Wiley was. Jason told him that Wiley wasn't with Bobbie when he found her. Bobbie woke up and Lucas asked where his son was. The panicked Bobbie told him that Wiley was still in the car when Shiloh drove away. Lucas was left stunned.
Episode 14421 picked up the story at the hospital. Brad was working at a nurses station when Willow showed up, looking to settle into her new job at the hospital when Chase approached her, revealing the news that Shiloh had escaped. Willow dropped her box, getting Brad's attention. He joined them, as Chase explained the situation. Then, an exasperated Lucas came off the elevator looking for Brad. He told him about Shiloh having Wiley, which shocked Brad, Willow & Chase.
Brad couldn't believe what he was hearing, as he wondered how Shiloh could have gotten his hands on Wiley. Chase excused himself to call the police station and report the kidnapping. Lucas then explained his mother's ordeal on the road, telling Brad & Willow that Wiley was in the backseat when Shiloh stole her car.
Chase returned, telling them that the police were aware of Shiloh taking Wiley in the car. He assured them that they were going to do everything they could to find their son. He looked to comfort Willow, as she fell into a panic over the missing child with Shiloh. Lucas pulled Brad away from work, trying his best to assure him that they were going to find Wiley. Brad then told Lucas that this was all his fault. He told Lucas that they lost Wiley because of him, leaving Lucas confused.
Lucas assured Brad that this wasn't his fault. When he met Shiloh at Dawn of Day and took parenting classes, he never could have known it would lead to this. He also said that one thing they know is that Shiloh, despite all his crimes, would never hurt his child. Brad said he could never get through this without Lucas. Brad wondered how he could keep it together, when he knew how much Lucas had to be worried. Lucas admitted that he was all a facade. He was scared, thinking about whether Wiley was cold, or hungry, but more than that he was angry because he couldn't fathom how anyone could ever keep a child from its rightful parents. This left Brad contemplating his own misdeeds when it came to Wiley's true parentage.
The kidnapping drama continued in Episode 14422 as Lucas paid his mother a visit, checking on her condition. All Bobbie wanted to talk about, though, was whether Wiley had been found. Lucas told her that Shiloh still had him. Bobbie blamed herself for cooperating with Shiloh and leaving her car, but Lucas told her that he could have killed her and that would have made things even worse. She knew Lucas had to be terrified. He shared with her that he was scared and furious.
Meanwhile, Brad was in the hospital chapel lighting a candle, as he asked for God to bring Wiley home to Lucas, despite all of the terrible things that Brad had done. He talked about how Wiley and Lucas deserved to be together. He prayed that Wiley would be safe and he promised to do whatever he needed to do to make his prayer come true.
Back in Bobbie's hospital room, Lucas informed her that he had contacted Carly to let her know what happened. Bobbie was worried, given Carly's pregnancy and her recently-broken foot. She didn't want Carly to feel like she had to hover over her. Lucas told her that Carly would have found out anyway. Lucas told her that he feels more comfortable having Carly there with her. Bobbie understood, because she told him he needed to be with Brad right now. Back in the chapel, Brad's praying was interrupted by Willow. She offered to leave him alone, but he asked her to join him. They clasped hands and continued praying for Wiley's safe return.
Lucas arrived at the chapel, finding Brad there. He wondered how Bobbie was doing. Lucas told him that she was awake and alert. He told Brad about Carly being with her. Brad was surprised, given Carly's condition, but Lucas said family sticks together. Brad agreed. Lucas remarked that it was getting late. He brought up how fussy Wiley gets when he's up past his bedtime. Thinking about that made Brad even more worried. He held Lucas' hand and leaned in his arms. The couple leaned on each other amid the crisis.
They later emerged from the chapel to find that Wiley had been returned, thanks to the efforts of Lucas' sister Sam. Willow handed off the toddler, as Brad & Lucas were shocked and elated to have Wiley back in their arms. They were both left relieved as they got their son back and saw that he was indeed safe and unharmed.
