GayTV Recap: General Hospital (Episodes 14362-14374)
Michael tried to assure Brad that things were going to work out because he, Lucas & Wiley were surrounded by people who love them and will stop at nothing to ensure Wiley isn't taken away from his fathers. Brad thought that was easier said than done given recent setbacks. However, he promised to keep positive. After Michael's departure, Brad whispered to Wiley that he was going to talk to Julian about getting some fake passports, just in case they needed to make a quick exit from Port Charles because of the custody fight.
Brad & Wiley walked into the pub, only to learn that Julian wasn't there. Tensions rose instantly, though, when Brad encountered Shiloh, the villainous man who believes that Wiley is his son, being hidden from him by his birth mother Willow. Brad accused Shiloh (played by Coby Ryan McLaughlin) of stalking him, showing up wherever he is. Shiloh tried to calm Brad, bringing up their time together in Dawn of Day. He offered to help him with his obvious stress, but Brad refused. When Brad tried to leave, Shiloh blocked him, wondering why he was being so angry. Brad told him that he knew about Shiloh's misdeeds and he didn't want him anywhere near his son.
Shiloh tried to regain Brad's trust, asking for advice on being a father, but Brad resisted Shiloh's attempts to gain his sympathy over Willow's pregnancy deception. Then, Shiloh stopped Brad from leaving again, telling him about Lucas' attack on him the previous night. He claimed that Lucas was an unfit parent and that he worried about Wiley's well-being. He told Brad that he deserved better than that but Brad refused to take the bait and side with Shiloh.
Shiloh continued to try to get under Brad's skin, telling him that it was only a matter of time before Willow came forward with the truth about his child's whereabouts, knowing keeping secrets would ultimately make her ill, just like Brad. He offered again to help Brad absolve himself of his secrets, but Brad demanded that Shiloh stay the hell away from him. He grabbed Wiley's things and headed for the door. In his haste, however, he dropped one of Wiley's towels, which Shiloh scooped up, giving him a source of Wiley's DNA.
Episode 14367 found many of the Port Charles residents attending the reception for newlyweds Elizabeth & Franco. Several of the General Hospital staff were in attendance, including Brad, who arrived without Lucas. Julian (played by William deVry) attempted to curb Brad's stress drinking, wondering why he wasn't home with his husband and son. Brad told him that Lucas wanted one of them to be there for their friend and colleague Elizabeth's big night. Julian then urged him to relax, but Brad said he couldn't, now that Shiloh clearly believes Wiley is his son.
Unfortunately for Brad, the secret of Wiley's true parentage is one also, unbeknownst to him, being held by Dr. Liesl Obrecht. The often-unhinged and vindictive doc was also present at the event and heavily drinking. She stumbled into the arms of GH nurse Felix (played by Marc Anthony Samuel) wondering why he was attending alone. Felix revealed that he broke up with his boyfriend Donny, leading Obrecht to bring up his past with Lucas. She wondered if Felix might still have feelings for him. Felix dismissed that, but Obrecht urged him not to, claiming that Lucas & Brad's marriage might not last much longer.
Julian & Brad talked alone, as he tried to assure Brad that Shiloh had no proof that Wiley could be his son, but Brad figured Shiloh's family court case against Willow would give him an opening to get a DNA test, which they both know would reveal he's not Wiley's father, throwing everything into chaos. Julian assured him that wasn't going to happen and that he needed to keep cool and thinking clearly. The two were interrupted by Lucas' mother Bobbie, not happy to see Julian again butting into Lucas & Brad's lives. Brad made a quick exit, leaving Bobbie to warn Julian to stay out of the custody issues.
The reception festivities continued with Brad and Felix both watching as Elizabeth's three sons performed a song for their mother. Felix was then dragged by Bobbie into contention to catch Elizabeth's bouquet. He later caught up with Brad, wondering if things were okay between him and Lucas, given Lucas' absence. Brad wondered why Felix was questioning things and Felix told him about Obrecht's drunken reveal that their marriage might be in trouble. This got Brad even more upset, leading him to go see Julian again. Later, Obrecht appeared to be pushed off the ship where the reception was happening, after the lights went out.
Episode 14368 followed. Power was restored aboard the ship and Bobbie spotted Brad re-entering the ballroom. She wondered where he had been. He told her that he was getting some air when the lights went out. Bobbie filled him in on Obrecht's plunge overboard. Later, as Brad was talking with Elizabeth, Obrecht shouted to those attending to her that she did not fall overboard drunk. She was adamant that she was deliberately pushed by someone. This got everyone's attention, including Brad.
Later, Bobbie pulled Brad aside, telling him that she overheard Elizabeth & Franco talking about Obrecht's drunken behavior, including her telling Franco something about Wiley's birth father. Brad was confused as to what Obrecht would know about that, but Bobbie knew it wasn't a good idea that the vindictive Obrecht was potentially spreading information about Wiley, as they continued to deal with the Shiloh drama. Bobbie urged him to go home and tell Lucas about this, so they could get ahead of any information spreading about Wiley. Brad agreed.
Episode 14370 found Lucas working at the hospital as he caught-up with Elizabeth, checking in with her on how things were going with her son Aiden and his school troubles. Elizabeth beamed about the improvement with the situation and how well Aiden's doing. Lucas commended her on being such a good parent, standing up for her son and making things right. Elizabeth could sense that he was troubled, and wondered if it was about Wiley. Lucas confided in her about complications coming up with Wiley's birth parents. He told her that Wiley has had such an effect on him that he can't be his usual rational self when it comes to his family being threatened.
His self-control was soon tested when Shiloh showed up at the hospital, inquiring about the boy. Lucas urged him again to leave his family alone. Shiloh revealed that he was at the hospital to pick up paternity test results that would prove he's Wiley's birth father. Lucas wondered how that was possible without his & Brad's permission and Shiloh told him about the cloth Brad dropped. Lucas grew even more upset when Shiloh mentioned changing Wiley's name. Shiloh urged him to get Wiley's things together for a smooth transition before walking away.
Lucas didn't let him get too far, as he told Shiloh that his threats were hollow because Lucas would never let him take his son away from him. Shiloh told him that he was only telling Lucas the legal truth. He will have no choice but to turnover his son once it's proven that Wiley is his biological child. A hospital staffer soon arrived with an envelope containing the test results. Lucas watched as Shiloh confirmed his identity and took hold of the test results. The episode ended with an angry Lucas eyeing Shiloh.
The next episode, 14371, picked up right where things left off. Shiloh assured Lucas that this would all be over soon. Lucas told him that there was till time to settle this amicably. He didn't have to take Wiley away from his parents. When Shiloh suggested that he would be a better father than Lucas or Brad, and that Wiley would not even remember them, Lucas grew more angry. He snapped, pushing Shiloh against a wall, with his hand around his throat. Thankfully, Curtis & Jordan had arrived moments before, spying the tense conversation. Curtis stepped in, pulling Lucas away from Shiloh.
Shiloh demanded that Commissioner Jordan arrest Lucas for assault, but Jordan told him that she wasn't currently active on the force and couldn't do that. The acting commissioner, Mac, arrived moments later, flanked by an officer, as well as Lucas' sister Sam. Shiloh told Mac about Lucas' assasult, but Jordan & Curtis both sided with Lucas, saying they saw nothing. Shiloh was more furious when Mac revealed a warrant for Shiloh's arrest, after two of his followers flipped on him, confessing to his misdeeds. Shiloh was carted off to the police station, dropping the test results envelope as he was being cuffed. Sam grabbed the envelope, giving the DNA results to Lucas.
Sam urged Lucas to go home and be with Brad & Wiley, but Lucas told her that he was so frazzled that he couldn't even drive. She offered to take him, but he said he couldn't face them right now, after coming so close to losing Wiley. He didn't know how to tell Brad. Sam told him that it was all okay now and he didn't have to, but Lucas wasn't so sure it was over. Sam told him that things were going their way with Shiloh, but Lucas brought up Shiloh's previous arrests and how he got off every single time, leaving him still feeling unsafe, especially now that there was concrete proof in that envelope that showed he was Wiley's birth father.
Michael arrived and they filled him on Shiloh's arrest. He wondered about the DNA results. Sam & Lucas revealed that Shiloh was arrested before he could open the envelope, which Lucas now had. Michael urged Lucas to destroy the test results. Sam told them that it wouldn't matter because the hospital would still have records of the results that Shiloh could get to, if he were to escape the prison charges against him. Lucas wasn't sure it mattered, because Shiloh still knew the truth that Wiley is his son.
Michael still urged Lucas to not let the test results loom over his head. He told him to destroy them because Wiley would never end up with Shiloh. He was with the only two parents he would ever know or love. Lucas agreed, tearing up the envelope and trashing it. Meanwhile, Shiloh vowed to be a father to his son very soon, despite being in jail.
Episode 14374 began with Brad paying a visit to the hospitalized Dr. Obrecht. He closed the blinds in her room before revealing he was carrying a mysterious needle. He prepared to inject her with something when they were interrupted by her niece Nina, wondering why Brad was there. He told her that he was about to draw blood for some tests, as Obrecht woke up. Nina wondered why the head of the hospital lab would be doing that and Brad covered, saying that he felt obligated to get Obrecht the best care, given his close friendship with her daughter Britt, despite Obrecht's annoyance with him being there.
They were soon interrupted by Lucas, looking to talk to Brad alone. Brad was reluctant to leave behind his mission, but obliged when Lucas told him it was important. In the hallway, Lucas told him about getting a call from their lawyer Alexis, looking to meet with them, Willow and Willow's lawyer Diane, saying it was urgent regarding Wiley. Brad grew more concerned.
Brad wondered what more Alexis said, but Lucas said that was all. They needed to get going to the Metrocourt to meet them, but Lucas took the time to bring up the Obrecht situation, telling Brad that his mother filled him on what happened at Elizabeth's reception. He wondered why Brad didn't tell him about Obrecht knowing something about Wiley's parentage. Brad dismissed it as drunken babble, but Lucas wondered what Obrecht could possibly know about Wiley's father that they don't already know. Brad shrugged it off, telling him they had to get to that meeting with the lawyers.
The couple arrived at the Metrocourt where Diane explained to them that, given Shiloh's arrest and the charges against him, she petitioned family court to have his case against Willow dropped. She told them all that the judge granted it, which meant that Shiloh would not have any claim on information regarding Willow's pregnancy until the current charges against him were dealt with. Alexis told Lucas & Brad that this meant that Shiloh couldn't make any claim on Wiley and he was safe with his parents. Brad & Lucas were surprised and relieved.
They all sat together as Diane explained to them that even if Shiloh were to wiggle out of the criminal charges against him currently, he would have to start over from square one when it came to his paternity claims. Alexis chimed in, telling them that with Diane & Alexis working to use every legal avenue they know, Shiloh wouldn't get close to knowing Wiley for years, if he were to escape his current legal trouble, which they doubted would happen. Willow thanked Diane for all of her help, and Lucas took the opportunity to thank Willow for putting her freedom on the line to protect Wiley. Brad agreed, saying they would never forget her sacrifice to keep Wiley safe.
Left alone, Brad was surprised that Lucas' spirits seemed to take a dip. He told Brad that he wasn't feeling great and that his blood sugar might be low. Brad gave him some tablets to help, while reminding Lucas to carry his diabetes meds with him all the time, just in case. He made sure Lucas was really okay before stepping away, telling Lucas he had to make a phone call.
Alexis checked on Lucas, telling him that he had a right to be relieved. Things went their way. Lucas asked her if this truly meant that Shiloh could never have a claim on Wiley. Alexis told him that she didn't deal in absolutes, but this was the best possible outcome to the whole ordeal. Meanwhile, Brad phoned Julian, telling him the news about Shiloh's family court case being tossed out thanks to his arrest. Brad told him that Wiley was finally safe with him and Lucas and the Shiloh threat was over.
Brad looked to celebrate with Lucas & Willow now that Shiloh was hopefully out of their lives. Lucas, however, wasn't ready to go that far. He told them that things with Shiloh weren't settled yet. There was still something they needed. Brad grew nervous as Lucas said they had to get their hands on Shiloh's medical records. Willow wondered why. Lucas brought up Wiley's heart scare and needing to know everything they could about Shiloh's medical history to be ready for any future health problems. Brad was left stressed once again, given his knowledge that Shiloh & Willow are not Wiley's actual birth parents.
