GayTV Recap: General Hospital (Episodes 14332-14336)
General Hospital's annual Nurses Ball event aired this week and Port Charles' trio of gay characters were all in attendance for the festivities. Episode 14332 saw the Nurses Ball kick-off with a performance from a group of the General Hospital nurses, including Felix (played by Marc Anthony Samuel). He joined his fellow colleagues on stage as they performed a rendition of the song "Best of My Love."
Felix got his time to shine on stage alongside his fellow nurses Epiphany, Amy, Bobbie and Deanna as they sang and danced through the performance to the delight of the crowd. The opening performance garnered a standing ovation from the Nurses Ball attendees.
With the Nurses Ball becoming infamous over the years for odd happenings and explosive moments, Felix later found himself a part of one of the more oddball moments after hostess Lucy Coe's pet llama Budgy was found backstage by Cameron, who opened up to the animal about his recent emotional struggles after the death of his friend Oscar. Felix arrived soon after, filling Cameron in on the identity of the llama, which he had to get back to its trailer to soothe a panicked Lucy. Felix then took a seat in the audience for the remaining performances.
Episode 14333 began with the late arrival of husbands Lucas (played by Ryan Carnes) and Brad (played by Parry Shen). They arrived hand-in-hand just in time to hear of a wedding proposal having happened at the Nurses Ball. This brought up memories for them of their own engagement which started at the Nurses Ball a few years ago. Brad's mood was dampened a bit, though, as Lucas was unable to stop himself from bringing up Brad's reluctance to confide in him about his recent stresses.
Brad & Lucas headed to their table, which they were sharing with Lucas' sister Sam. Lucas was surprised to see her show up with Shiloh (played by Coby Ryan McLaughlin) as her date. The Dawn of Day leader shared a warm welcome with Brad, while Lucas shared his surprise about Sam being at Shiloh's side, unaware that she was working undercover to expose his suspected nefarious actions.
Brad felt instantly uncomfortable when Shiloh brought up some advanced courses at Dawn of Day being made available for him, which didn't seem to sit well with Lucas. Brad made a hasty exit to refill the drinks. Lucas requested a chat alone with his sister and Shiloh obliged. Lucas looked to understand what she was doing with the shifty spiritual guru and Sam covered, as they were soon interrupted by another musical performance to end the episode.
Episode 13334 continued the tension at their table, as Sam told her brother Lucas about all of the good that working with Shiloh has done for her emotionally. Lucas was forced to admit that Brad's also found some peace since he started taking classes with Dawn of Day. Brad told them that it was all due to Shiloh's help. Lucas, however, remained uncomfortable with the subject. The trio then played audience to another musical performance, not knowing that Shiloh was in the middle of a confrontation in the hall with Willow, after overhearing her mention having a child, which he knew he fathered before her escape from Dawn of Day.
While waiting for the next performance, Sam assured them that Brad's stress and panic since becoming a parent was completely normal. She told them about how she still wakes up some nights and feels the need to check on her kids, even if it's just to make sure they are still in their rooms. The couple was happy to hear her reassurance, while outside the ballroom, Shiloh confronted Willow about his child, demanding to know its whereabouts. She gathered her courage to lie, telling him that she miscarried, just as her friend Michael (played by Chad Duell) arrived, pulling Shiloh away from her, as another musical performance kept everyone's attention inside the ballroom.
Shiloh returned to the ballroom, looking clearly disheveled. He apologized, telling them that he had just learned of a major betrayal. Sam pretended to sympathize with him, which caused him to reveal that he just learned he fathered a child that had been kept from him. Willow & Michael entered the ballroom moments later, catching Shiloh's evil eye. This didn't go unnoticed by Lucas.
Shiloh revealed that the woman was indeed Willow. After being unable to take his eyes off of Willow & Michael, Shiloh left the ball with Sam. With his mind racing over what he witnessed and what Shiloh said, regarding Willow, Lucas began to connect the dots, as Brad grew more uncomfortable. He grew instantly suspicious that Willow's recent behavior towards them and their adopted son Wiley might be caused by her secretly being the toddler's birth mother. This took Brad by surprise, as he already knew that it was true that Willow believed she was Wiley's birth mother.
With the Nurses Ball coming to an end, Brad looked to make a quick exit from the event and head home to be with their son, but Lucas couldn't shake his suspicion that Willow might be their child's birth mother. He brought up all of her strange behavior around Wiley, and her frequent encounters with them when they were with their son in public, and her meltdown when she learned Brad was taking courses with Shiloh. Brad had no answers as Lucas proclaimed that she must be the boy's birth mother.
Episode 14335 found Brad & Lucas making their way to the lobby, where Brad tried to calm Lucas down, saying that they don't know for sure that Lucas' suspicions are true. Lucas refused to calm down, saying that it all adds up, if Brad will just think about what Lucas was saying. Brad, not wanting to see his happy home start crumbling, tried to assure Lucas that none of this mattered, because in the end, their adoption was legal and finalized, which means that Wiley is their son and no one else’s.
Lucas told Brad that it wasn't that simple. If Shiloh's story was true, and Willow kept her pregnancy from the birth father, their adoption could be challenged by the child's father and that could mean them losing Wiley. Brad hadn't thought about that.
The couple made their way outside, where Brad again tried to get Lucas to drop this, since they didn't know if any of this had anything to do with Wiley. He looked to try to keep all of his secrets intact, including the one he shared with Willow, to keep her identity a secret. They didn't make it very far, though, as Willow & Michael exited behind them. Lucas confronted Willow, accusing her of putting his family in danger of losing their child. Michael got between them, wondering what his uncle Lucas was talking about.
Willow revealed that it was true that she was Wiley's birth mother. Michael was stunned, and wondered why she hadn't told anyone. She told them all that Shiloh was dangerous and giving her child up for adoption was the only way she could keep it safe. Brad wondered what she was keeping it safe from, as he still refused to fathom Shiloh could be so bad. Michael, however, disputed that, telling them all of the horrible things he did to his sister Kristina, and to Willow.
Willow claimed that she hoped leaving Port Charles would have ensured Shiloh never learned the truth, but she couldn't leave when she learned that Brad became involved with Dawn of Day. Brad again stated that Shiloh had been nothing but great to him, and even if he hadn't, he would never let him do anything to Wiley. Willow tried to get them to understand that Dawn of Day was nothing but a cult. Michael urged them all to stop fighting, saying that at this point they all needed to work together to ensure that Wiley remained safe.
Episode 14336 found Brad seeking advice and counsel from Lucas' father Julian once again. Julian was hoping for an early night, until Brad came banging on his door, threatening to wake his girlfriend Kim. He allowed Brad to come in, as he revealed his panic that his world was starting to crumble thanks to the events of the Nurses Ball earlier that night.
Julian brought him some water, trying to get him to calm down and tell him what happened. Brad told him about Lucas finding out that Willow was the woman behind their adoption, and now the entire thing was in danger because of her baby's father finding out about her having a child. When he revealed that the father was Shiloh, he got more of Julian's attention, as he brought up Shiloh's untrustworthy nature, which again caught Brad by surprise.
Julian urged Brad to do nothing, but Brad was sure that Shiloh wasn't going to give up and if he continued to pressure Willow it would ultimately lead to Wiley. Julian watched as Brad then wondered if that was a bad thing. He contemplated going to Shiloh and telling him the whole story, feeling that the man who he had been working with at Dawn of Day would understand and help make things right. Julian wondered what he was thinking. He demanded that Brad keep his mouth shut, especially when it came to Shiloh.
Julian warned Brad that Shiloh was poison and couldn't be trusted. Brad didn't know what to do to solve this problem. He said he could barely think straight, obviously, and Lucas was in total panic mode. Brad felt like they were running out of time before his family was completely torn apart, knowing if Shiloh challenged the adoption, it would put Brad on the road to all of his secrets coming out, including the fact that Willow & Shiloh's child was dead, and not Wiley. Julian urged him to go home, promising him that he would take care of Shiloh, and he would guarantee that Brad & Lucas never lose Wiley, no matter what it takes.
