GayTV Recap: General Hospital (Episodes 14324-14325)

General Hospital's resident gays Lucas (played by Ryan Carnes) and Brad (played by Parry Shen) were back this week. The couple began Episode 14324 having a public visit with Lucas' cousin Valerie. They discussed her recent promotion to detective, as she bonded with their adopted son Wiley. When their casual conversation led to Lucas bringing up Brad's classes with the Dawn of Day (DOD) spiritual group, Valerie was instantly concerned, warning that Brad needed to stay away from Shiloh's group, catching them off-guard.

Valerie revealed her suspicions about the group leader Shiloh's potentially alarming actions with other members. Brad quickly disputed any wrongdoing, telling them about how beneficial his courses at DOD have been for helping with his stress. While Lucas agreed he was doing better, he still didn't feel totally comfortable with DOD. Brad pressed Valerie for evidence of nefarious activity, which she couldn't reveal. Brad said that the police weren't investigating them, so he didn't see any harm. Valerie told him that she was just warning her family to watch their backs.

Seeing that Lucas was being swayed by Valerie's comments about DOD, Brad assured him that the group had been nothing but helpful to him and that there was no reason to worry about him or Wiley being around Shiloh. Their conversation was overheard by Valerie's detective partner Chase (played by Josh Swickard) and his girlfriend Willow, who believes Wiley is the child she gave up for adoption. Having escaped DOD herself, Willow lashed out at Brad, warning them that they needed to keep Wiley away from Dawn of Day, taking them by surprise.

Lucas and Brad were instantly uncomfortable with Willow's outburst. Not knowing she was behind their adoption, Lucas urged her to mind her own business, but Willow told them that they were horrible parents if they ever let their child get involved with Dawn of Day. Brad, knowing Willow's identity, looked to make a quick exit. Lucas told the woman that she had no right to question their parenting, warning her to stay away from them.

The couple took Wiley inside the diner, where Brad assured Lucas that he would never do anything to put Wiley in danger. Lucas told him that he knew that, but he couldn't understand why Willow was so adamant about butting into their business. When he brought up DOD again, Brad grew uncomfortable, telling him that he didn't know anything problematic, before heading to the bathroom. Left alone, Lucas made a mysterious call to someone, saying they needed to talk about his family. Little did Brad know that Willow was simultaneously revealing to Chase that Wiley is the child she gave up for adoption, fathered by Shiloh, when he took advantage of her at DOD.

Episode 14325 followed with Brad taking part in another DOD session with Shiloh (played by Coby Ryan McLaughlin). Shiloh looked to get to the heart of Brad's stress in order to help him relieve it. Brad confided in him about his child's birth mother trying to insert herself into Wiley's life, which had him feeling uncomfortable. Both men remained unaware that Shiloh fathered the child that Willow gave up for adoption, before its death in Brad's care.

Meanwhile, Lucas showed up at his father Julian's pub, revealing that he was the one Lucas left the phone message for in the previous episode. Lucas found Julian with his girlfriend Kim, mourning the recent death of her teenage son Oscar. Lucas shared his condolences with his hospital colleague before her departure. Julian revealed his surprise that Lucas wanted to talk about family and Lucas told him that he specifically came to talk about Brad, and the secret that he believes Julian is helping him keep.

Back at DOD, Shiloh asked probing questions about Brad & Lucas' adoption. Brad told him that it was a closed adoption, at the mother's request, but she seems to be changing her mind about that, orchestrating encounters when he is out with Wiley. Shiloh surprised Brad by suggesting he invite the woman to Dawn of Day so he could help her. Over at the pub, Julian denied Lucas' accusations about him keeping secrets with Brad, but Lucas brought up Brad's continued visits to the pub, talking with Julian secretly. He demanded to know what Brad was hiding from him because it was putting their relationship at risk.

Brad thanked Shiloh for offering to smooth things over with Wiley's birth mother. Shiloh reminded him that everyone is welcome at DOD, and he could help her find peace. They were then interrupted by the arrival of Kim, looking to talk with Shiloh about her son Oscar. Brad left to give them some privacy, after passing on his condolences to his hospital colleague for the loss of her son.

Back at the pub, Julian confronted Lucas about lashing out at him and Lucas apologized to his father, but told him that he didn't understand why Brad was openly talking to other people about what he was going through being a new father, but not talking to Lucas. Julian guessed that Brad didn't want to disappoint him. Lucas then told Julian about Brad taking courses at DOD, which was coming under fire by people like Willow. This worried Julian, given his secret with Brad related to Willow thinking she's Wiley's birth mother. They were then interrupted by the arrival of Brad, further proving Lucas' point about Brad sneaking around.

Lucas immediately headed for the exit, telling Brad that they needed to talk. Brad was caught off-guard and followed him outside, telling him that he was there to grab breakfast. Lucas called that a lie, given that the pub wasn't even open yet. Brad tried to explain further, but Lucas told him it didn't matter. He knows that something is eating away at Brad. He assured Brad that he wasn't mad at him. He just wanted to help him get through whatever it was. Lucas told Brad that he could confide in his husband so he could help him. This left Brad feeling more stressed and uncomfortable, given his baby secrets that he feared would destroy his marriage if revealed.
