GayTV Recap: General Hospital (Episodes 14283-14308)
Brad attempted to make a hasty exit to get to work, though Michael quickly stopped him, refusing to let him go without an update on his godson Wiley. He suggested Brad show him and Willow the latest pictures and Willow couldn't resist as Brad passed over his cellphone. Brad also revealed to them that Wiley is starting to crawl, which excited Michael. Brad then made his exit after texting Michael the pictures.
At the hospital, Brad couldn't escape more stress as he got a visit from Maxie & Peter, looking to secure his help in running a DNA test. Maxie played on Brad's villainous past, suggesting that he could get some further redemption in her eyes if he performs the DNA test, in secret of course.
Brad had more questions, but Maxie assured him that he would be doing the right thing, because this DNA test could provide the truth behind a relationship that was under fire. Brad agreed to initiate the DNA test and put a rush on the results, making Maxie very happy. However, they were all unaware that they were being watched by Valentin, who did not want the results of that test to be known.
The March 22nd episode found the weight of secrets taking a toll on Brad's health, as Lucas' father Julian (played by William de Vry) crossed paths with Brad & Wiley, seeing Brad popping antacids. He wondered what was plaguing Brad now. Meanwhile, his hubby Lucas was working at the hospital when he spotted his fellow doctor and friend, Griffin (played by Matt Cohen), step off the elevator bruised from a fight. He brushed it off, but Lucas demanded he let him take care of his wounds.
Brad shared an article he was reading that discussed the potential for mental health issues in children whose mothers suffer from them. This led to Julian having questions about Wiley's actual birth mother, but Brad continued to keep her identity secret. Julian tried to calm Brad's nerves, suggesting he see a doctor. Brad playfully reminded him that he lives with a doctor and Lucas thinks it's just stress. Julian got called away, leaving Brad alone with Wiley and his internal struggle.
Back at the hospital, Lucas dressed Griffin's wounds, wondering what was going on with him. He brought up their medical school history and how everyone looked up to him for how great he was in class and how everyone crushed on him, including Lucas. Griffin told him that he was lost, thanks to all of his recent dramas and losses. He asked Lucas to write a note for him, given his damaged hand. Lucas quickly agreed, though he was saddened when Griffin began dictating a letter of resignation from the hospital.
Over at the diner, Brad & Wiley were joined by Lucas' sister Sam and her son Danny. Meanwhile, Lucas tried to convince Griffin to take some time to think about resigning, before that note could be delivered. Griffin assured him that he was certain about his decision. The two then crossed paths with Lucas' sister Carly and her husband Sonny. Griffin thanked them for their friendship and revealed he was passing off care of Sonny's father to another doctor, catching them off-guard when he said his goodbyes.
After Griffin made his exit, Carly & Sonny wondered why it sounded like he was leaving. Lucas confirmed that Griffin was leaving the hospital and Port Charles behind. Back at the diner, Sam looked to have some cuddle time with Wiley, only for the boy to spit up on her just as Shiloh (played by Coby Ryan McLaughlin) arrived making her uncomfortable leaving her child near him while she went to clean up. Brad assured her that he would be there, so Sam exited just as Danny's father, and Shiloh's enemy, Jason arrived outside, seeing Shiloh chatting with his son.
The March 25th episode continued where the previous episode left off. Jason interrupted things at the diner, questioning Danny as Sam returned, thanking Brad for keeping an eye on Danny, though Brad gave the credit to Shiloh who appeared good with kids, which didn't sit well with Jason. Brad continued to take antacids, as Shiloh revealed Sam was taking one of his courses with his Dawn of Day group to help with self-discovery, surprising him.
Sam & Danny soon left and Shiloh probed Brad about his relationship with Sam, leading him to reveal his marriage to her brother and that Sam was Wiley's godmother. Shiloh mentioned how courses at Dawn of Day were often a good family experience. He issued an open invitation to Brad to explore the group with his son.
Shiloh asked to hold Wiley for a bit and Brad obliged, as he listened to Shiloh explaining the virtues of Dawn of Day, unaware that Jason and the Corinthos family were attempting to uncover the nefarious motives behind what they believe to be a cult. Brad grew more intrigued as Shiloh told him more, noting that if Sam was onboard maybe it was worth exploring. He was unaware that Sam was undercover, looking to get dirt on Shiloh.
Brad's stress levels reached an all-time high when he got a message from Willow asking to meet with him and Wiley during the April 27th episode. He arrived with the toddler, wondering why Willow asked to meet them alone. Seeing she was emotional, he wondered if she had changed her mind about staying out of Wiley's life.
Willow revealed that something had come up and she had to leave Port Charles, surprising him. Brad wondered about her motive for leaving and whether it might have something to do with the father of her baby. Willow denied that, saying that the man didn't know she was pregnant and she never wanted him to know. She didn't reveal that the man she was talking about was cult leader Shiloh, whom she had escaped from. She asked to hold Wiley for the last time and Brad passed him to her.
Willow spoke to the baby, saying that she hoped one day when he grew up he might come looking for her and they could know one another, if he wanted. With a chill in the air, Brad grabbed a blanket, causing a Dawn of Day brochure to fall from Wiley's bag. This caught Willow off-guard and she questioned Brad's connection to the group. Brad told her that he was thinking about taking a course to help him with his stress, causing her to grow uncomfortable.
Willow told Brad that he wouldn't need that. With her leaving town, he wouldn't be stressing over them running into each other. Seeing how tight she was holding Wiley, Brad grew more uncomfortable, telling her that they needed to leave. He looked to take back the boy, only for Willow to hold him tighter. Brad demanded that she give him his son and Willow relented. Brad made a fast exit with the boy.
The storyline picked up in the April 16th episode, where Brad was singing the praises of Dawn of Day to his husband Lucas while they enjoyed lunch at Charlie's Pub. Willow arrived, seeing them. She headed over to the bar, hearing Brad trying to convince Lucas to take some family courses with Dawn of Day, though Lucas didn't seem very interested in the spiritual talk. Brad spoke of how his course has worked wonders to improve his mood and reduce his stress, which Lucas admitted was obvious, as a troubled Willow watched from afar.
The couple prepared to leave when Lucas spotted Willow at the bar, remembering her as Michael's friend. Brad grew uncomfortable seeing her, but followed Lucas over to greet her. Brad brought up his thought that she was leaving town, but she revealed that she had decided to stay. She asked him about Shiloh's book and Lucas revealed to her that Brad had read it multiple times. This left Willow more troubled, as they headed off back to work at the hospital.
At the hospital, Brad ran into Shiloh who brought up how well Brad was doing in his courses. Brad thanked him for all his help at Dawn of Day. Shiloh then noticed Brad carrying a cup that he had used to drug Sonny's daughter Kristina. Brad revealed he was asked to do some drug testing on it in the lab. Shiloh revealed to him that it was his and Brad realized that Jason had brought it in for testing. Shiloh accused Jason of trying to railroad him and suggested Brad not waste his time, as he told him what had been in the cup, claiming there were no drugs.
Lucas joined them, hoping to chat with Brad. Shiloh headed for the elevator, as Lucas told Brad that his schedule cleared up and he would be able to take off early. He wondered if Brad might be able to join him. Brad eyed the cup and Shiloh, as he contemplated skipping the drug testing on the cup in order to leave work early with his husband.
Jason arrived looking for the results of the testing from Elizabeth, as Brad arrived with the cup, telling Jason that he figured Elizabeth's secret request came from Jason. He asked about what Brad found in the test. Brad told him the ingredients that Shiloh explained, claiming that he found no trace of any drugs in the cup though he never ran the tests. He caught up with Lucas, telling him that he was all done with work too. He then brought up Dawn of Day again, hoping Lucas might agree to take a family course, with him and Wiley. Lucas agreed to keep an open mind about it.
The following episode on April 17th began with Brad using a hospital computer to sign up for a Dawn of Day parents group session just as Jason arrived with more questions about the test on Shiloh's ceremonial cup. Brad assured him that he found no trace of drugs, but Jason was caught off-guard seeing the Dawn of Day website on the computer. He questioned Brad's involvement with Shiloh's group and Brad talked about how helpful it had been for him, leaving Jason troubled.
Lucas arrived greeting them. Brad headed back to the lab, as Lucas wondered if things were okay with Jason. He questioned Lucas about Brad's involvement with Dawn of Day. Lucas told him that Brad was becoming a big supporter of the group, thanks to how helpful it's been for him in reducing and managing his new-parent stress, despite Lucas' skepticism. Jason, however, was left with more questions and suspicions about the cup testing.
Lucas later ran into Elizabeth. Seeing her stressed, he offered to listen, especially when he got the sense that it had to do with her young son Aiden, and his potentially emerging homosexuality. Elizabeth confided in him about Aiden recently being left out of his best friend's birthday party because the girl's parents didn't want him around the other kids. Lucas showed his support for her and his anger over their behavior.
Elizabeth told him she was at a loss on how to deal with things and she thought she was failing miserably, after her teenage son Cameron got into a fight at school because of a kid using hate speech targeting Aiden. While Lucas applauded Cameron fighting for his brother, Elizabeth reminded him that it wasn't the answer and Lucas agreed. He told her that she was doing things right, but she wasn't so sure. Lucas assured her that Aiden had the support of everyone who loves him and Cameron could learn to use non-violent tactics to protect his brother. He was sure it would all work out and Elizabeth thanked him for the advice.
Lucas then caught up with Brad, who was hoping Lucas had decided to attend the parents group at Dawn of Day, since they were both leaving the hospital early. Lucas asked him to cancel the group session, since he was feeling more like going home and just relaxing with Brad & Wiley. Brad relented, saying that Lucas had convinced him with that counter offer. Lucas kissed Brad and they left the hospital together.
