GayTV Recap: Days of Our Lives (Episodes 54x134-54x140)

The Days of Our Lives couple of Will and Sonny may have put their blackmail drama behind them, but they've been dropped into the middle of another crisis, as Will's (played by Chandler Massey) health took a turn for the worst. Will remained in the hospital during Episode 54x134 as he awaited his test results, being kept company by his love Sonny (played by Freddie Smith) and their baby mama Gabi. Talk of curses and poisoning came up, as Gabi was brought up to speed on their speculation of what might have caused Will's headache and fainting.

Sonny left to check on what was taking so long with Will's test results, leaving Will & Gabi to talk alone. Gabi did her best to encourage Will, as he revealed his search on the internet for the possible causes of his fainting spell, worried that it could be a heart or brain problem. Gabi demanded that he admit that he was going to be fine, because everyone in his life that loves him needed him to be fine and he couldn't let them down. Will agreed with a smile.

Sonny returned, revealing to them that the lab was still backed up which was causing the delay with Will's test results. Will grew more worried when Sonny revealed he spotted Will's grandparents headed towards the room. Kate & Roman showed up, worried about him and wondering why no one called her. Given their recent negative history with Kate, Sonny & Gabi made a quick exit, annoying Will as he was left alone with his worried family.

Kate and Roman wondered if Will was okay and he tried to reassure them that he was fine. They didn't believe that, as he was in the hospital. Kate figured it had to be serious. He urged them to be patient as he awaited the test results. Sitting outside the room, Sonny & Gabi compared notes on their recent nightmares involving Kate, including her bringing Leo into Sonny's life. The topic turned to Gabi's current drama with Stefan. Sonny urged her not to fall into Stefan's romantic clutches after she admitted to kissing him.

Back in Will's hospital room, Rex arrived surprised to see his parents Kate & Roman with Will. They all eagerly awaited the results of Will's blood test. Rex revealed that Will had an elevated white blood cell count, which was not normal. He told them that they would have to run some more tests to see what was causing it, but he urged them all not to worry, because it could be nothing, even just caused by stress. Outside the room, Gabi was called away and Sonny saw Rex emerge from Will's room. He pressed him for the results of Will's test.

Sonny rejoined Will in his hospital room, as the two talked about the results of the test and the fact that Will would be subjected to more testing before he could leave. They tried to lift their spirits by joking about Sonny's newfound marriage freedom, which they never got to celebrate. Sonny mentioned updating his Grindr profile, but not expecting much luck given his two failed marriages and lack of a job. Will remarked that it sounded pretty hot and Sonny playfully suggested they might be a match, leading to some kissing.

Their moment of bliss was soon interrupted by Rex, who arrived to pick-up Will for his next round of tests. Rex revealed that Will would have to remove his good luck charm necklace for the MRI. Will tried to take it off only for the chain to break, putting his mind back on the potential curse that the necklace was supposed to protect him from. Sonny assured him it would be fine, taking the broken necklace and kissing Will with a profession of love, after Will whispered to him about deleting that Grindr profile. Will left for his test, as Sonny was left behind looking worried.

Episode 54x139  began with Will & Sonny back at Sonny's place. Will was happy to be home, but Sonny reminded him that he was under strict orders to take it easy, meaning Sonny was going to be his servant, despite Will's protests. Will assured Sonny that he was feeling a lot better and hadn't had anymore headaches.

Sonny presented Will with a gift and he opened it to find that Sonny had replaced the chain on his good luck charm necklace. Will didn't think he needed it anymore, especially since Sonny already said he didn't believe in the curse. Sonny said that no matter what's going on with Will, a good luck charm can't hurt. He urged Will to keep wearing it and he put it back on him. The couple then shared a kiss on the couch, only to be interrupted by the arrival of Will's grandmother Marlena.

She apologized for interrupting, but they were both happy to see her back on her feet after her own medical scare. They shared a warm reunion, as they filled her in on their hopes for a future wedding and told her about what was going on with Will's medical situation. They were later interrupted by a call from Rex, telling Will that his test results were ready and he would meet him at the hospital. Will told Sonny & Marlena and appeared concerned that Rex didn't want to give him the results over the phone. Sonny & Marlena reassured him that it could be that Rex hasn't seen the results yet either. Marlena offered to go with them to the hospital and Will happily accepted her support.

They got back over to the hospital and Marlena was forced to leave them, as she got a call about one of her patients being in the emergency room. She left Will with a hug and an assurance that no matter the result, it was all going to be okay. Sonny echoed her sentiment and they were soon joined by Rex and his fiancée, and fellow doctor, Sarah. They revealed to Will & Sonny that the test results revealed troubling news for Will's health.

Episode 54x140 picked up right where the previous episode left off, with Rex and Sarah revealing to Will that his tests showed a mass on Will's brain. This explained his elevated white blood cell count. Will was instantly terrified by the news. Rex told him that they would be doing more tests to determine if the mass might be life-threatening. They told Will & Sonny that it could be the case of a benign tumor.

Will's mind quickly went to the worst case scenario that he could have brain cancer and die, Sarah assured him that it was too early to even think about that. Rex told them that he would schedule some follow-up tests including a biopsy to check the mass. He told Will he could go home, but had to call him if he experienced any worsening symptoms. Sonny put on a brave face, holding Will in the face of the new crisis.

The two arrived back at Sonny's place and Will couldn't help thinking that his days might be numbered if he has cancer. He talked about all of the plans he had been thinking about in his head, including marrying Sonny again, and taking their daughter Ariana to see the world. Sonny assured him that they would still accomplish all those things, no matter what. Will said that Sonny couldn't make that promise now.

Sonny told Will that he wouldn't let him fall into an emotional spiral. He firmly told Will that until they hear otherwise from a medical professional, Will does not have cancer. He told Will that they were going to beat this, together, just like they've beaten every other obstacle that stood in their way. Will told Sonny how much he loves him, and Sonny returned the sentiment, leading to a kiss and a hug.

Left alone, Will got back on the internet and began searching for information about brain tumors, which quickly sent his emotions into overdrive, as he read about possible prognoses. Sonny walked into the room, seeing Will on the verge of tears. He grabbed him into a supportive hug. The two held each other as Will continued to contemplate the possibility of a shortened future.
