GayTV Recap: Days of Our Lives (Episodes 54x128-54x130)
The saga surrounding Days of Our Lives soulmates Will and Sonny being tormented by scheming troublemaker Leo came to an end this week. Episode 54x128 began with Leo (played by Greg Rikaart) looking for his father, John, hoping to secure his help with his living situation, unaware that John was busy confronting his mother, Diana, about her attempted murder of his wife Marlena. In Marlena's hospital room, Leo was surprised when Marlena chose to give him the money he needed just based on his relation to John, despite protests from John's other son Brady. He complimented Marlena & John for embracing him and hoped they could have a fresh start. Marlena then got a call, informing her that John had secured Diana's confession.
Leo rushed over to the police station, confronting his mother about her attempt to kill John's wife. Diana lashed out at Leo, calling him ungrateful. Leo dismissed his mother from his life, telling her that he was done with her for good. He thanked John for being a decent man who he was proud to call his father. Diana then delivered the revelation that John was not actually Leo's birth father, shocking both of the men.
John disputed her truth, reminding her that he got a comprehensive paternity test that proved he was Leo's father. Diana then explained how she found the file on Marlena's desk after she poisoned her and changed the results in an effort to help both her and Leo solidify a relationship with John for their future. Leo was floored to learn that her abusive husband was actually his father. He dove over the table in the room, attempting to strangle his mother, as John pulled him away.
John got Leo away from his mother, as he screamed about her being the most evil person he knows. John tried to calm him down, as he vented about his life's struggles being all her fault. John encouraged him to get some air, promising to be there for him, despite the truth. Leo told him that he wasn't his son, or his problem anymore. He left after telling his mother that she would never see him again. Leo later walked through the town square, running into Brady. He informed Brady of the truth that they were not actually brothers after all.
Episode 54x129 began with Leo arriving at the Kiriakis mansion at Sonny's request. Sonny (played by Freddie Smith) presented annulment papers, hoping Leo would sign them so they could finally be done with their farce of a marriage. At the hospital, his true love Will (played by Chandler Massey) had a visit with his grandmother Marlena. Brady was also present there, as Marlena explained Diana's crimes to Will, including her confession that Leo is not John's son after all. Will was thrilled to hear that bit of news. Brady confirmed it, telling them about his run-in with Leo in the square.
At the mansion, Leo had reservations about signing the annulment papers, but Sonny showed him the agreement also included a handsome monetary settlement, though Leo was unimpressed with the amount. Back at the hospital, Will was relieved that the truth about Leo and Diana had come out. He thanked Marlena for standing by him through all of his troubles. They were joined by his uncle Eric and Will left him to visit with his mother.
Leo refused to sign the annulment papers without more money, further angering Sonny. Leo threatened to go to the tabloids with his story of how his newfound family was abandoning him and forcing him to live in poverty and how that wouldn't look good for anyone. He demanded more zeroes on the agreement for Will's uncle Leo. Will arrived at that moment, bursting Leo's bubble of lies, revealing the truth that there was no Uncle Leo because Leo was not John's son after all.
Leo urged Will to stay out of this, but Sonny wanted to hear what he was talking about. Will revealed how Leo's mother altered the paternity test. Leo had no connection to his family and Leo knew it. Leo grew more angry, as Will did his best to convince Sonny not to play games with Leo anymore. No one was going to believe Leo's lies anymore. He urged Sonny not to give up anymore of his time or money to Leo. He told him that Leo had nothing left. This was all in Sonny's hands and he could take back his life.
Sonny took control, grabbing the annulment papers and telling Leo it was time to end this and sign them. He said Leo had a choice to make. He could either sign and get the money Sonny was offering, or Sonny would rip up the papers and take him to court with Leo getting nothing. Leo remained defiant until Sonny began to tear up the papers and he relented, agreeing to sign. Sonny followed suit and got Will to also sign as a witness, officially bringing their marriage of blackmail to an end.
Will and Sonny were happy with the outcome, but Will noticed Leo giving him a strange look. Leo explained that he was cursing Will for his interference. Will was confused, while Sonny remained dismissive, saying there was nothing left that Leo could do to them. Leo explained the curse to Will and Sonny revealed he was aware of the Greek legend, but that it wasn't real. Leo vowed that it was and soon Will would get a terrible headache which would signal the looming downfall of his happy life. He departed after delivering his final shot at the couple's future.
Will and Sonny were left alone, both happy that the drama with Leo was finally behind them. They celebrated with a kiss, but Will had some lingering concern about Leo's attempted curse on him, given Sonny's revelation that it was an actual thing. Sonny assured him that Leo doesn't know anything about how to curse someone. He then presented Will with a necklace that was given to him by his Uncle Victor that was supposed to ward off that exact curse. He placed it around Will's neck, telling him that it was a good luck charm that would protect him. The two shared a happy kiss.
Sonny suggested they take their celebration to the bedroom, but Will stopped short as he was struck by a major headache. Sonny told him that he was just tricking his mind because of what Leo said, but Will was sure it was really happening. Sonny went off to get him some aspirin and he returned to the room to find Will had collapsed on the floor. A panicked Sonny tried to wake Will up, as he wondered what happened.
Things continued from there in Episode 54x130. Sonny called for help as Will remained passed out on the floor. Their shared cousin J.J. arrived as part of the paramedic team. Will was placed on a gurney and J.J. was able to revive him. A confused Will wondered what happened. J.J. questioned him about what he remembered and Will told him about his headache and dizziness. He was sure he was okay now, but J.J. demanded he go get checked out at the hospital. Sonny agreed, assuring Will that he would go with him.
At the hospital, Will was attended to by his uncle Rex and Sarah. Will and Sonny explained what happened at the mansion. Will then blurted out that he thought he might be cursed. Rex and Sarah were immediately taken aback by that accusation. Sonny explained the Greek curse, but assured Will that it wasn't really happening. Rex told them that he would dispel that suspicion with some tests. He made a bet with Will that there would be a scientific explanation for his collapse.
J.J. showed up to check on Will, just as Sonny & Will were wondering if Will could have been poisoned by Leo, the same way that his grandmother Marlena had been poisoned by Leo's mother Diana. J.J. didn't think that was the case, given Will's strong vitals. He urged the couple to stay calm and relax, knowing that the hospital would figure out what happened and all would be well.
They later got a return visit from Rex, who told them that the lab was backed up and Will would have to stay overnight until they could get his test results. Will wanted to go home, but Rex urged him to sit tight until they had an answer. Sonny also tried to calm him, as he couldn't stop thinking about Leo's curse. Sonny reminded him of the good luck charm around his neck and the fact that Sonny would never let anything bad happen to him again. Will then wondered if there could be something else medically wrong with him. Sonny said that if there was, they would fight it together, bringing a hopeful smile to Will's face.
