GayTV Recap: The Other Two (Episode 1x3)
Episode 3 of the comedy The Other Two began with leading man Cary (played by Drew Tarver) scrambling to find his ear buds so he could leave his apartment. He knocked on his roommate Matt's door and was allowed to enter. He opened the door to find Matt (played by Andrew Ridings) masturbating in his bed while watching porn on his laptop, surprising him. When asked about his ear buds, Matt removed them and invited Cary to stick around.
Cary wanted desperately to join him but he revealed he had to get to a play that he was performing in, where he had the titular role. Matt complimented him on getting an important part, as Cary revealed that the play was called "While John Slept," meaning he would spend the majority of the play lying still and pretending to be asleep.
After the play, he got kudos from his family as his mother revealed that she would be in New York for an extended period, thanks to their younger brother Chase's newfound stardom. She took them to the luxurious apartment that she was staying at with Chase, revealing that it belonged to Justin Theroux. While exploring it, Cary confided in his sister Brooke about Matt, telling her about their latest encounter, which he figured he should take as a sign of Matt being interested in him. She wasn't so sure, but Cary took a shot and texted Matt asking him to grab drinks sometime.
Chase's manager Streeter arrived with his new publicist, who revealed to the family that Chase was getting a celebrity girlfriend as part of a marketing plan for his new album. In order to make it happen, she told them that she would need to know if they had any damaging secrets that could hurt his new girlfriend's public image. She revealed a dossier on the family, but Cary revealed his embarrassing secrets openly, only to learn that she would have never been able to know those things and all of the embarrassing internet issues were pinpointed with Brooke instead.
Cary left for his next stage performance. He received a text reply from Matt during the show, which was being attended by only one person, his fellow waiter and friend Curtis (played by Brandon Scott Jones). When Matt agreed to meet now, Cary contacted Curtis to convince him to leave the play so it would end early.
Curtis was reluctant as he was enjoying the show, but Cary revealed his date, which got him to agree, along with a promise to handle one of his shifts at work. Curtis made a scene to reveal that he was leaving. Cary's excitement, however, was dimmed when he realized Matt was inviting him to a group thing.
Cary arrived at the bar to find Matt and his buddies drinking together. He soon found himself in the bathroom, cursing Matt's mixed signals. Matt joined him in the bathroom, quickly planting a kiss on him and telling him how horny he was.
Cary's spirits raised when Matt emerged from the toilet and suggested they get out of there. Cary agreed, only to be left annoyed again when Matt walked out, inviting his friends to all come back to their apartment.
As they got closer to the apartment, Cary tried to figure out a way to ditch Matt's bros, leading him to throw himself down the stairs, as an accident. He inadvertently injured his face in the process, but got Matt to rush to his side. He told his friends that they would have to cancel the apartment hangout, pleasing Cary as the other men left. Matt picked Cary up, carrying him to the apartment.
Matt mentioned how horny he still was, which led Cary to attempt to kiss him. Matt stopped him, pointing out his bloody lip. Cary laid down, frustrated that his tactic to get Matt alone hadn't worked to get into his pants. Matt, however, still removed his pants allowing Cary to give him a handjob. While it wasn't what Cary really wanted, he did oblige, lamenting that it was good enough, as the episode ended.
