GayTV Recap: Grey's Anatomy (Episode 15x10)

This week's Grey's Anatomy put some focus on gay intern Dr. Levi Schmitt (played by Jake Borelli). He worked in the emergency room assisting doctors DeLuca (played by Giacomo Gianniotti) and Hunt (played by Kevin McKidd). They examined a patient complaining of the flu and stomach pain. When they realized she took old antibiotics, they ordered some tests. Dr. Hunt was dealing with flu-like symptoms himself, leading him to get himself hooked up to an IV while he continued working. Meanwhile, Schmitt's love interest Dr. Nico Kim (played by Alex Landi) arrived to assist with a different patient, working alongside flirting doctors Meredith and Linc (played by Chris Carmack).

Schmitt observed as DeLuca & Hunt checked their patient's scan, which revealed some major issues with her colon, which would require surgery. Back in the other surgery, Nico was a witness to the medical bickering between Meredith & Linc, who showed off his skills in ways Meredith wasn't expecting. Meanwhile DeLuca & Schmitt were being prepped for surgery, while Hunt assured the patient, not realizing that the paralyzing drug for her was being accidentally administered to his own IV. Hunt quickly braced the group for what was about to happen to him, before he collapsed, leaving DeLuca & Schmitt to act quickly.

DeLuca ordered a nervous Schmitt to take care of Dr. Hunt while he handled the surgery on their patient. This required Schmitt to insert a breathing tube in his superior's throat to make sure that he could breath in his unconscious state. Despite his nerves over doing something he had never done, Schmitt announced his success and was put in charge of watching over Hunt. He got him to a room, where they were joined by Hunt's pregnant ex, Dr. Altman, who caught Schmitt off-guard with her respectful attitude towards him, as he explained Hunt's condition to her.

With Dr. Hunt recovered, Schmitt removed the breathing tube, while filling him in on his patient and her successful surgery performed by DeLuca. He got thanks from Dr. Altman, who wondered about who he was. He introduced himself, but stopped short of bringing up his unwanted nickname 'Glasses,' choosing instead to only give her his last name. Schmitt went off to find Nico, and gestured for him to join him in private, leading to a steamy kiss.

Schmitt told Nico all about his day and how he saved Dr. Hunt's life. He told him about his increased confidence and ability at his job, which he attributed to Nico, claiming that he was rubbing off on him. Nico assured him that wasn't the case. He told Schmitt that he could always do it. Schmitt had just never realized he had it in him. This made him even happier, leading the two to continue their makeout session.

Feeling more confident and transformed in how he felt about himself, Schmitt looked to truly end his hospital stigma by ditching his glasses for contacts. This presented more of a challenge for him, as he couldn't find the courage to get his finger close enough to his eye to insert the contact lens. He was joined by his fellow interns and his pal Taryn offered to help him. He quickly accepted her assistance in his final scene for the episode.
