GayTV Recap: Good Trouble (Episode 1x2)

Episode 2 of the new Freeform series Good Trouble found the residents of The Coterie throwing a major party. Leading lady Callie, however, was in no mood to party and chose to focus on work until the surprise arrival of her gay brother Jude (played by Hayden Byerly). After chatting about his time at college, Jude convinced her to join the party with their sister Marianna.

After Jude left the sisters alone to grab some drinks, they quickly spied their housemate, and Callie's casual hookup, Gael (played by Tommy Martinez) greeting a male friend. Their warm hug led Marianna to wonder if the new guy was the one they saw Gael hooking up with a few nights before. Their stares didn't go unnoticed by Gael and his male friend. Jude returned just in time, as Gael came over to introduce Callie to Bryan (played by Michael Galante). She followed suit by introducing them to Jude.

While Bryan made small talk with Jude, Gael remarked that he hadn't seen Callie around in a while. He wondered if she was avoiding him. While she denied that, a flashback showed her doing just that as he arrived in the kitchen and she made a hasty exit. Gael & Bryan left the duo to grab some drinks of their own and Jude told his sister that the gay guy was hot. She instantly wondered which guy he was referring to. He told her Bryan was clearly gay. This led her to inquire about Jude's love life and whether he felt bisexual guys that he hooked up with were really actually just gay, catching him by surprise with her questions.

Callie was pulled onto the dance floor by her sister, where she was soon joined by Gael, leading to some close dancing. Jude watched from the sidelines, where he was joined by Bryan. Seeing Gael & Callie dancing, he asked Jude if his sister had a boyfriend. Jude told him that she didn't and was focusing on her work. Callie then had a run-in with Bryan in the bathroom, where he made some friendly small talk, as she tried to hide her discomfort with the awkward situation.

Jude caught up with Marianna, telling her about the weird chat he had with Callie. Marianna then took it upon herself to assure him that Callie wasn't asking questions about his sex life because of him. She then told Jude about Callie's trysts with Gael and how they saw him having sex with a guy. Jude went to Callie, revealing he knew what was going on. He tried to explain to his sister that sexuality can be fluid and that if she actually likes Gael she should expore that since he was obviously into her when they were together.

With the party continuing and her drinking increasing, Callie found herself watching Gael from afar once again. Bryan found him and brought her up, wondering if Gael was interested in her. He didn't really want to talk about that, leading Bryan to plant a very public kiss on him, which was also spied by Callie. Bryan reminded Gael that he wasn't his date and Gael said that he could be. Bryan told him that he had to head out to another party but he would text him later. Gael was disappointed to see him go.

Gael later found Callie out by the pool after she dealt with her work drama. He wondered if she was okay and she confided him that she wasn't, thanks to her job. She then brought up seeing him hook-up with Bryan when she was last by the pool. Gael said she wouldn't be the first to be uncomfortable with his bisexuality. He told her that things with Bryan came up casually, after she had told him that they couldn't have anything between them because of her sister. Callie revealed that Marianna no longer cared if she hooked up with him. The two almost shared a kiss, until Callie was struck with a major headache from her drinking.

Gael brought her some water by the pool and she said goodbye to Jude, who told her that he had to get back to school. Left alone by the pool, Callie stripped down and went for a swim. She was soon joined by Gael in the pool. This led to an underwater makeout session between the two to end the episode.
