GayTV Recap: Dynasty (Episode 2x3)
The latest episode of the CW drama Dynasty featured some major story progression for main character Steven Carrington (played by James Mackay). Steven began the episode still feeling insecure about his impending fatherhood after a one-night stand with his former flame Melissa. His husband Sam (played by Rafael de la Fuente) continued to try to make amends for his antics in trying to expose Melissa's pregnancy as a fraud by planning a major baby shower, though Steven warned him he was going too over the top.
Sam confided in the Carrington butler Anders, who filled him in on Steven's childhood and how he never cared about extravagance and took pleasure in simple things. He showed him a picture of young Steven on a rocking horse, a gift Anders gave him as a boy. At the baby shower, Steven was convinced by his father, Blake, to not give-in to his feelings of insecurity about becoming a dad and to realize how much Sam was trying.
Sam interrupted the two, presenting Steven with a baby gift, which turned out to be the rocking horse he had as a boy. He accompanied his simple gesture with a promise to be there for Steven every step of the way. Steven embraced him, thanking him for being supportive of him and the upcoming baby.
Of course, in true Dynasty fashion, the episode couldn't end without some major bombshells. The baby shower provided the perfect public event for some major secrets to be revealed. Steven and his family were shocked when Anders' daughter Kirby forced him to reveal an affair with Steven's mother, Alexis, which resulted in him being Steven's birth father.
After learning that her baby wouldn't be a Carrington heir, Melissa then revealed to Steven and Sam that Steven was not actually her baby's father and that it was all a ruse to get to the Carrington fortune. Steven was left rocked by the identity of his father, and the news that he was not going to be a father himself.
